5 Day Coromandel Tour

DAY 1

Escape the city to the spectacular Coromandel Peninsula with your friendly kiwi guide. Tour through picturesque farmland stopping for photos and short walks during the day.

Travel along the beautiful seabird coast, home to thousands of migratory and shore birds.

Enjoy a visit to the fascinating old gold mine town of Thames with its buildings and churches dating from the 1800’s.

Touring north, follow the beautiful western Coromandel coastline through avenues of beautiful Pohutukawa trees.

Enjoy a gentle walk into a wonderful stand of giant Kauri trees in semi tropical rainforest.

Back on the coast, we continue north until we turn inland, climbing through wonderful mountain and coastal scenery stopping at amazing photo stops looking towards northern Coromandel.

Arriving at Coromandel township is like a step back in time with the rustic relaxed feel of the town along with all the old buildings and architecture.

This is where gold was first discovered by Charles and Frederick Ring in 1852 and the gold history abounds in this wonderful old town.

DAY 2

Your Kiwi Dundee Adventure guide will take you for a ride at Driving Creek Railway, on a narrow gauge train through regenerating forest to an incredible view point of Coromandel town, the harbour and islands right across to Auckland in the distance.

Lunch is in town at one of the delightful rustic cafes.

We explore the area in afternoon including a drive up to Colville .

DAY 3

Tour over mountains to Eastern coast through beautiful rain forest, down into beautiful dairy land, along rugged coast to famous Hot water beach and Cathedral Cove region. Enjoy gentle walks on coast and learn the history of this region including Capt Cooks landing

DAY 4

Today you visit Kiwi Dundee’s spectacular Conservation estate in the mountains. Doug & Jan have planted thousands of native trees and plants to help bring back the native birds.

Enjoy a gentle walk up the Puketui Valley to learn about the flora & fauna, history and culture of this valley. See glowworms in an old gold cave, and be entertained by your Kiwi Dundee guide.

Visit a bird sanctuary at a beautiful East coast beach with its white sand and off shore islands.

DAY 5

Today we tour South, visiting old gold town of Waihi with its quaint old buildings. Enjoy a delightful walk in spectacular gorge with interesting history, old swing bridges, old trails &  beautiful scenery.

After a delightful lunch we tour south to Rotorua or north to the city of sails Auckland.
